55 Lifeboat Medal

All 13 volunteer crew of the Point of Ayr Lifeboat received one of these medals after they rescued the crew of a Norwegian ship that was caught in a storm on the night of 7th October, 1889. The portrait is of Oscar II, King of Norway and Sweden and reads ‘Ædel Dadd’ – ‘For Bravery’.
