For over 10 years the Royal Commission has been working closely with partners and animation companies to bring the past to life. In the coming weeks we are going to take a close look through our back catalogue and will be showcasing some of our favourite digital animations, reconstructions, fly-throughs and interactive tours that the Royal Commission investigators have worked on over the years.

So, if you have ever wondered how house styles have changed over the centuries, pondered how Pontcysyllte Aqueduct was built, always wanted to know exactly how a slate quarry or metal mine worked, all will be revealed.

Each week the @RC_Survey twitter account will be bringing a new digital resource for you to #DiscoverFromHome. Throughout that week we will also be posting additional information on that site or theme across all the Commission’s media accounts.

For those of you that cannot wait until next week, here is one we have posted recently, a fly-through of the point cloud resulting from laser scanning of St Winefride’s Well, Holywell. The film was produced by Luminous and the Royal Commission in partnership with Bangor University and the Centre for Advanced Welsh and Celtic Studies as part of the AHRC funded project “European Travellers to Wales”.
