    Open Day Ceiriog Memorial Institute

12:30 pmCeiriog, Memorial Institute, High Street, Glyn Ceiriog, Llangollen, LL20 7EH

We are holding an 'Open Day' at the Ceiriog Memorial Institute on Saturday July 15th to unveil our new display entitled ''Evicting a Community - 100 Years On'', which commemorates the centenary of Warrington Council's plans to dam the Ceiriog Valley in 1923.

Much research has gone in to the display, which contains detailed maps and costs of the proposed project, reports and press cuttings, as well as the Parliamentary Bill itself, with support both for and against. The founder of the Institute, Sir Alfred T Davies, led the campaign against, producing the booklet 'Evicting A Community', and found an ally in Lloyd George, who described the Valley as 'A Little Piece Of Heaven On Earth'. Thanks to them we are 'Yma O Hyd'

For information, the Institute will then open every Saturday afternoon up to 16th September inclusive, from 1-00 until 4-00pm.
