The Women’s Peace Petition team and North East Wales Archive Services would like to invite you to an:LowriKirkham@academiheddwch.cymru 100 years ago, the Women of Wales organised a petition signed by 390,296 women to send to America in a large Oak chest with the goal of creating a more peaceful world for future generations. Throughout 2024 we are sharing the story of the petition throughout Wales and beyond as well as recruiting volunteers to help transcribe the petition in partnership with the National Library of Wales. This fascinating afternoon will consist of: • A short talk about the Welsh Women’s Peace petition from the Peace petition community team. • Hear from the Archive team about some of their research and how they can help you discover your past. • Learn about transcribing or if you are already a transcribing volunteer get tips and advice. • View the available petition pages from your area. We look forward to welcoming you then and sharing the story of the petition and the local women who contributed to it. I would very much appreciate it if you could share this event with your members, Kindest regards Lowri Kirkham – Community Outreach officer
