GLADSTONE’S LIBRARY HOSTS THREE-DAY COURSE ON CONTEMPORARY CHRISTIANITY IN THE MIDDLE EAST

Gladstone's Library, Church Lane, Hawarden, Flintshire CH5 3DF

Gladstone’s Library is delighted to announce the details of a three-day course for theologians, historians, and anyone with an interest in religion. Entitled Through Palestinian Eyes...Contemporary Christianity in the Middle East, the course will explore Christianity in the Middle East from the 19th Century through to the present day. The price of the course also includes entry to this year’s Robinson-Spong public lecture, Faith in the Face of Empire: The Bible Through Palestinian Eyes, individual tickets for which can be purchased separately.

Participants of the course have the option to take part in a Eucharist every morning, and will first look at the rise and fall of Middle Eastern Christianity in the 19th Century, giving participants the context in which the next two days of lectures will be situated. Further sessions include ‘The Fall of Middle Eastern Christianity in the 20th Century’; ‘The Political Situation in Israel Palestine’ and; ‘Christians in Israeli Palestine: Migration and Resilience.’

The final session of this course, and the Robinson-Spong lecture for 2019, will explore the Bible and contemporary Christianity from a Palestinian perspective.

Places for this course are available now. Residential prices start from £235, non-residential are £160. Discount rates for clergy and students apply. For more information or to book, please call 01244 532350 or email http://enquiries@gladlib.org.
